Save Energy and Improve the Comfort of Your Hot-Water Heated Home

If your home is heated with hot-water radiators, then you have either:

A) Uneven Heating of the Radiators - some are too hot, some cold.

The Smoother dramatically improves heat distribution through your home, reducing or eliminating the need for space heaters, opened windows, and cranked thermostats.

or B) Even Heating - Your boiler's circulating pump is running continuously, wasting an enormous amount of electricity. A standard 2-amp circulator pump running continuously uses over 2000 kWh per year of electricity, as much as FOUR full-sized refrigerators!

The Smoother cuts your pump electricity use by approximately 75%, while maintaining the same comfortable even heating. Pump noise and wear are also reduced.

Other Features:

  • Soft Start - reduces the noise and stress when the pump starts up.
  • Pump Exerciser - runs the pump for 2 minutes every day during the summer. This extends the life of the pump and helps to prevent pump seizure, reduces maintenance.
  • The Smoother is Inexpensive with a two-year payback on average.

Did You Know?

Installing a Smoother is like unplugging three refrigerators without sacrificing your heating comfort. You get the same even heating as you would have if your pump was set to continuous circulation and you also get the peace of mind of knowing that you are conserving energy and saving money.

Energy Savings Explained

Historically the only way to achieve even heat distribution to all radiators was to run the circulator pump continuously. With the Smoother, the circulator pump runs approximately 75% less, resulting in big electricity savings.

Financially these electricity savings translate into up to $165 per year or $3,300 over a 20-year boiler life. This calculation is based on a standard 2 amp pump at 2005 Ontario total electricity rates. The savings will be more for larger pumps and as the cost of electricity increases.
